These guys have been making music since 1996, the rockers, Little King or LK are no strangers to creating tunes that gets your head moving. Made up of a talented ensemble from all over North America with a strong passion for rock. The band draws influence from all of the member’s unique backgrounds, creating an amalgamation of grungy, Latin rock, a sound that really catches your attention. Little King’s have recently released their single ‘Keyboard Soldier’ and kindly answered a few questions for us about their influences and what they have coming up.

What got you into making music?

Growing up in the Dominican Republic 🇩🇴 in the city of Santo Domingo I’ve been surrounded by Latin culture from Latin jazz, to merengue, bachata, salsa I got all these influences that make who I am then I became a teenager in the early ’90s ( Grunge era in his golden time) and started to watch MTV, Beavis & Butt-head playing Soundgarden, Nirvana, STP, RHCP, Prodigy -Fat of the land, and I immediately said to myself: “I wanna do that“!!!

Who inspired you to make music?

Right away out of my head: Depeche Mode, Duran Duran, The Smith, Soundgarden, Tool, Local H, Helmet, Nirvana, STP, Korn, Deftones, Primus, Rage against the machine….etc where essential for me growing up and building who I am today.

What is your creative process?

Let me be locked up In my room, garage or studio from 4 to 7 hrs. a day and I’ll eventually come up with a song or two ready from top to bottom.

Is there anyone you would like to collaborate with?

Oh boy oh boy, don’t start…. Most of the people I admire are dead but if I were to pick one it would be Tool front man “The Nard”!

What is your favourite song to perform?

From LK ‘Hate Counter‘ (from the album ‘Occam’s Foil’) and a cover would be ‘Freak on a leash‘ By Korn.

What are you working on right now?

Just promoting our last LK record ‘Amuse de Q’ and trying to reach as many cities as we can it’s been a long year and we need to gain that back!

What does Your Band Name Mean?

That will be Ryan’s (front man and guitar, Vox) name meaning in Gaelic, his actual maiden name made the name of the band hahahah.
